OscarDelta IP Over AX.25
OscarDelta IP Over AX.25 is a packet radio software developed for amateur radio operators to provide TCP/IP communications. You can chat, send and receive e-mail, surf the web and so on via radio depending on your bandwidth. You don’t need a TNC. You have all of TNC features via sound card using SoundModem provided by OD IP over AX.25. On different software instances you use more than one sound card and you have more than one network connection. So you can make IP routing and Internet connection sharing.
Latest stable version of OscarDelta IP Over AX.25 is 1.0.1.9

TCP/IP over Packet Radio
The software uses AX.25 protocol on physical and data-link layers. And, integrates packets from data-link layer to network layer of operating system. Sends and receives IPv4 and ARP packets on link layer. IP packets encapsulates TCP and UDP and ICMP (and etc.) packets. The software uses a special techinque and translates MAC addresses to AX.25 callsigns.
SoundModem
OD IP over AX.25 provides SoundModem. You are independent from TNC using SoundModem. You can use many modulation schemes providing by SoundModem. Idea of SoundModem is minimum requirements and maximum features for Packet Radio. For TCP/IP over Packet Radio too. Using SoundModem provided by OD IP over AX.25, you can always change internal modem paramaters and modulation scheme. It is good for me and you. Because i don’t need to adapt the software for a lot of TNC products. We don’t need to pay money for using one or two modulation scheme. We can do experimental studies changing internal modem parameters. To use SoundModem, you need a SoundModem Interface. It is also same with EchoLink Interface. If your transceiver have TNC connector, you should connect transceiver side to TNC connector. Disadvanteges of SoundModem, connection characteristic is quite dependent your sound card quality. Increasing connection speed; signal to noise ratio, sampling rate, frequency tolerance, frequency characteristic, linearity, calibration of sound card come into prominence. But i know that; if you have any sound card produced after 1997, you can work 1200 bps. Also you can work 9600 bps using most of sound cards. Yes; i know, working above 9600 bps every sound card is not enough. You can buy a good quality sound card instead of TNC. This seems bad idea. So sometimes i think to move the project into embedded systems…
Now; SoundModem provided by OD IP over AX.25 has this modulation schemes:
- FSK (Frequency Shift Keying)
- DBPSK (Differential Binary Phase Shift Keying)
- DQPSK (Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying)
- DQPSK – pi/4 (Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying – pi/4)
- MSK (Minimum Shift Keying)
- GFSK (Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying)
- GMSK (Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying)
You don’t need to know internal parameters for SoundModem provided by OD IP over AX.25. OD IP over AX.25 configures blank parameters by its own default parameters. Default SoundModem parameters are according to HAM Radio standards. For details, Installing and Configuration. Sample configurations for HAM Radio:
